About Us
2011 Season
The TGFL is excited to have launched our 2nd season of flag football in 2011. We are an inclusive league, welcoming men & women from the gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight, and transgendered communities. League games run from early May through late September (including playoffs) and are played weekly on Thursday nights. The TGFL welcomes new players of any skill level, whether you’ve played tackle, touch, or flag football before or have no experience whatsoever! The majority of our players in 2010 had never played football before, so brand new players to the sport should feel right at home. To join our league, new players attend one of our TGFL Combines before the season, where running, catching, and defensive skills will be assessed. All players are assigned to teams based on the TGFL draft process, which ensures an equal skill balance throughout all teams.
Registration
Registration for the TGFL is now closed. To be added to our Waitlist for the current (2011) season, please send an email to info@torontogayfootball.com. During the 2010 season, we activated the Waitlist a few times and brought waitlisted people into the TGFL.
Exciting News! New Home for the TGFL!
The TGFL has a new home in 2011 at the Cherry Beach Sports Field (CBSF) near Toronto’s waterfront. CBSF provides our members with a premium flag football experience with its synthetic field turf playing surface. All our teams play at CBSF on Thursday nights at what will become the TGFL’s new home. In addition, night lights will allow games to be played once nightfall hits and enable the TGFL to grow and accommodate many more players than it could in 2010. TGFL: More than Just Games!
In addition to our regular season and playoff games, the TGFL is committed to enhancing the off-field social experience for our membership. Several league-wide get-togethers are planned in addition to the individual team get-togethers at our sponsor bars after games. Our 2010 season included: our Draft Day Party, skills clinics, a night out at a Toronto Argonauts game and pre-game tailgate party, a road trip/tailgate to a CFL East playoff game in Hamilton, a Grey Cup Party at a TGFL sponsor bar, an all-team end-of-season celebration, a TGFL year-end banquet & awards ceremony, and a Beach Football tournament at Ashbridges Bay!
